In case you haven't been following our adventures via Facebook, we had a pretty big adventure recently: our first airplane trip with Liam. We flew out to Washington D.C. to spend a long Easter weekend with my Dad, Kim, Michelle & Aaron. The day we flew out was easily the most stressful day I've had in a while, just trying to make sure we timed everything right, had food ready, etc. As usual, Liam fell asleep in the car en route to the airport, and slept his way right through security. He woke up for a brief moment while we boarded the plane - just in time for his first celebrity sighting - Danny Glover - and then he was back to sleep. (Yes, Danny Glover was on our flight. He is very nice and let us board in front of him. He's aging nicely... but definitely aging! Oh, and he flew coach in case you're interested.)
We prepared cute little treat bags in the event that we had a screamer, but thankfully didn't have to use them because he slept the entire time (though I didn't stop sweating the entire time). I thought about recording the airplane sound to be able to play it back in the middle of the night, but I was a good girl and kept my phone off.
Upon arrival, we had a great weekend. On Friday, we went into the District in hopes of seeing the beautiful cherry blossoms, but it's been such a cold winter out east that they hadn't bloomed yet. So we wandered amongst the various memorials and spring break tour groups. My good friend from h.s. Brad, and his partner Tom, came over for dinner & basketball Friday, and as usual, we had good food and lots of laughs. Saturday, the girls went into Georgetown to shop. Michelle works a few hours a month at Athleta, so she gets a hefty discount across all the Gap brands. So Team D scored some new threads for cheeeeeap. Before heading home Sunday, we went to a big fancy brunch in the district at a restaurant called 14k.
The journey home was
almost as smooth for Liam, though not quite for us. We went through the wrong security gate, so we had to go back out and through again. It was a pain, to say the least.
Here are some pics from the weekend...

Good gosh. I need to have a baby (boy) just so I can get one of those mustache pacifiers. Best baby accessory EVER.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Liam did so well on the plane! And just so you know, you keep ME company during boring stretches at work whenever you update, too! ;)
So, if you didn't hand out any of the goodie bags, what did you do with them?
ReplyDeleteWe still have them, but Tom eyes the candy on a nightly basis so they won't stay intact for long :)
